Pepper

Vivi's workplace had the opportunity to work with Territorio de Zaguates, and on a visit to the shelter, Vivi noticed that among the large pack of dogs, there was, in her words, "a little black, furry thing" jumping through the crowd.

It turns out that little black thing was none other than Pepper. A little zaguate who, although over two years old, had outgrown his puppy body.

Vivi had recently moved out of her parent's house and already had a cat, but she felt she had room for another pet. "I wanted a puppy because I really like them a lot, and I felt like that kind of companionship was something I needed. I fell in love with Pepper instantly. I picked him up, and he lay on his belly on my lap and fell asleep. I think it was love at first sight for both of us."

Pepper has become a beloved member of Vivi's family, bringing joy and laughter to everyone, especially his human grandmother.

"When I go on weekends or work trips, my mom takes care of him, and she's the happiest woman in the world. She says she knows he's the only grandchild she'll ever have, so we visit her on weekends, and they spend the whole day together.

When he sees me carrying his little bundle and packing his things, he goes crazy because he knows we're going there, and he loves it because he knows at his grandma's place, he gets extra pampering and a yard where he can run around and dig holes."

Despite his initial wariness of humans, especially men, Pepper formed a unique and powerful bond with Vivi and her family after his adoption, becoming protective and even a little jealous.

In the morning, he has bursts of energy, but during the day, he prefers naps and sunbathing on his terrace. However, when he goes to the park, he never stops running. He runs and runs and runs, playing with every single dog in the park. His best friend is a Great Dane, and his second best friend is a Golden Retriever. He's a social butterfly, always eager to make new friends. "I think he thinks he's one of the big dogs."

"Pepper isn't the first dog I've had, but he is the first one I've adopted as an adult. And he has truly been an incredibly loyal companion who has accompanied me through some of the toughest times in my life. During one of my most vulnerable moments, when I fell into a deep depression, Pepper was truly an unconditional support for me. Having him around was essential because, without him, I don't think I'd be here."

Adopting a pet is not just about gaining a companion, it's about giving an innocent being a second chance. You're helping to provide them with a new story, and in return, you gain a loyal friend for life.
